LSA (Leadership Through Sports & the Arts) and Rocketeer Leaders

LSA (Leadership Through Sports and the Arts) uses restorative justice methods such as community-building, social emotional learning, the 5 R’s (relationships, respect, responsibility, repair, reintegration), in combination with sports and also artistic activities, to instill long-lasting changes in behavior and self-discipline. At the core, LSA is about self-control/discipline and it is what molds students into eventual leaders.
Members and alternates are selected by school staff, and they participate in weekly meetings with collaborative agendas that involve SEL (Social Emotional Learning) on Wednesdays, in our School's Conference Room. They also play important roles in school-wide drill activities, spirit days/weeks, and by mentoring younger students in the arts and sports. LSA Members earn badges for successfully completing and participating in various activities.
Sample LSA Standard-based Activities:
3rd-5th grade: physical, manipulative and movement skills, self-responsibility, dignity/respect, self-control, social interaction, artistic and theatrical lessons. These activities are incorporated into the overall LSA concept throughout the year.
