Wilshire Park Elementary School Science Program
Wilshire Park science program provides students with the opportunities to develop understandings and skills in science and technology related disciplines. Incorporating mathematics and communication is an integral part of our science program. We encourage students to develop problem-solving and critical thinking techniques while engaging in hands-on explorations and investigations. Through inquiry based learning, students are motivated to understand important scientific concepts while cultivating their curiosity of the natural world around them. We utilize the FOSS (Full Option Science System) a standards-based science curriculum developed by Lawrence Hall of Science at the University of California at Berkley which creates science experience for students that are appropriate to student's cognitive development.
Wilshire Park is committed to teaching students to value and respect the natural environment and strive to minimize the ecological footprint at our school through our gardening, recycling and Earth Week science curriculum.
